Hey, cancer… Screw You in 2024!
In 2021, we released the first ever “Screw Cancer” barrel pick to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of MS and LA. From the bottle sales and the “Screw Cancer” rare whiskey raffle, we raised $28,650 for LLS. In 2022, our second Screw Cancer release raised $15,320 for the Woman’s Hospital Foundation. In 2023, we raised $21,000 for Prostrate Cancer Research through the LSU Foundation.
It just so happens that the fight against cancer isn’t done, so we’re saying “Screw Cancer” once again. For 2024, we are bringing you the fourth annual “Screw Cancer” barrel pick bottle from the Bourbon Society of Baton Rouge Foundation in conjunction with Sugarfield Spirits. This expression is an amazing blend of finished bourbons. We took a six-year MGP bourbon finished in sherry casks and a six-year MGP bourbon finished in cognac casks blended them together. We then took that blended bourbon and finished it in Sugarfield Spirits Honey Liqueur barrel for an additional three months. The result is an amazing flavor profile that lives up to the name twice blessed.
This year, $80 from each bottle will go to Cancer Services with the money earmarked for families afflicted with Pancreatic Cancer. Cancer Services is a non-profit organization that has served the greater Baton Rouge community for more than 65 years. Our mission is to improve life for those living with cancer. Through generous community support, Cancer Services is able to provide financial assistance, nutritional supplements, wigs, support groups, one-on-one counseling, children’s camps and more to those who need it the most.
“We are so thankful to the Bourbon Society of Baton Rouge Foundation for selecting us as the beneficiary of this fun and important initiative,” said Nancy Gosserand, Director of Cancer Services. “Funds raised will help us be able to provide support groups and other resources to those facing pancreatic cancer in our community.”
